Szervusz!
I spent two years on a foreign-study program in Hungary in the '70s, and five more as a teacher in the '90s. Friends gave me the nickname "Nádas" after someone looked up the translation of my first name. I was told the term can apply to someone who owns a marshy area with reeds in it, such as a friend's grandfather, a Habsburg hussar in WWI, who had been granted a piece of property by the emperor that actually extended into Lake Balaton near Keszthely, and included the hunting, fishing and, of course, nád-harvesting rights.

Hello
Hi Professor Nadas -

I took a look at your webpage, and your biography is very interesting! I also looked at the link of your brothers book, it sounds very intriguing. You and your brother look nothing alike! I guess that's the odds of genetics...that may be an interesting Statistics question.
Best,
Lindsey

hello
My mom and I both read your short bio. and it was nice to hear about you and your family's background. It is a nice personal touch for your students to know a little about who you are and where you come from. I hope to do well in your class and will probably be asking a lot of questions. Thank you in advance for your help.
