Merry Christmas 2002 From the Nadas Family

Another year has come and gone – where does the time go!?

 Krisztina (Krisztina@nadas.org) became homeless in February as Scott was in Washington State with the boat, and they were moving in mid-March, so she and the boys lived with us for more than a month.  It was a very full and fulfilling time.  Zoltán is now 3 ½ and Sándor, 2.  They are busy, active, articulate in two languages, and can really wear a grandmother out.  On the other hand, I can always give them back to their very competent mother.  Scott is shift engineer at the nuclear prototype training unit in Saratoga Springs, NY, and thus will be living with his family for at least another year.

 Gyula, aka Jay (eye_spin@go.com) had a very full year.  He became a licensed pharmacist, and is now working on his doctor of pharmacy degree.  He has only one rotation left before he is finished.  Then he may start a residency.  In early summer, he and Colleen Parker became engaged, and on December 7, they were married in a gazebo overlooking the Mississippi River.  Colleen’s 5-year-old daughter, Peyton, acted as the flower girl.  We warmly welcome them into the family.  They are now looking to buy a brand-new house in Aurora (about 1 hour from us).  Colleen, a chef, cooked Gyuszi a wonderful birthday meal – if that was any example, Gyula will be in for a lot of treats!  

 Zsolt aka Styles (Zsolt@nadas.org) is a senior at University of IL, finishing up his computer science engineering degree.  Now the job hunting skills are in demand.  He is currently working at Beckman Institute, the computer research company in Champaign, as well as working in student services, so the idea of a job is not strange.  This year, for the first time, he shares an apartment (1 roommate), and discovered that he loves to cook and is very creative.  We are happy to try the recipes he comes up with – inexpensive and tasty.  Good combination!

 Tas (tas@nadas.org) finished his sophomore year at Marmion, which included a trip to Disney World with the band.  Due to philosophical differences and the fact that they are soon closing the dormitories, Marmion did not invite Tas back. Perhaps this was a blessing in disguise.  He dropped out of high school and is now a student at Wright College, taking college level classes.    By the time he is 18 he will have 2 years of transferable college credits – for free, since that is where his parents teach.  He lives at home now – the first teenager in the family to do so.  We are enjoying it – and I think he might be also.  As many who leave the military influence, Tas has grown his hair and changed its color.  It has been blue, white blond, and very dark so far this year.

 Erika (erika@nadas.org) and Gyuszi, aka Julius (Julius@nadas.org) are still both teaching and it is still fun – so retirement is not imminent.  We enjoyed a few small trips this year, including one to upstate New York, seeing Letchworth state park, Sik Sandor Scout Park, and visiting Krisztina in her new home.  On another trip we went to Copper Harbor – the northern-most tip of the upper peninsula of Michigan.  Hungarian falls (found on an earlier trip) was determined to be too dangerous by the department of natural resources, so all signs have been removed.  (We found it anyway).  Thus the modern world!  With the expanding family, we have spent numerous hours on the family tree.  Check it out at nadas.org.  There are more than 14,000 names!  Additions and corrections are always welcome.

Eltelt még egy év – hová fut az idö?

Krisztina februában hontalan volt, mert Scott a hajóval Washington álamban volt, és csak március közepén költöztek az új beosztási városába.  Igy hát itthon volt a két gyerekkel.  Zoltán most már 3½ eves, Sándor pedig 2.  Aktiv, kiváncsi, fiúk, két nyelven állandóan beszélnek.  Bizony kifárasztják nagymamát.  Krisztina nagyon jó anya, és élvezem nézni hogy hogy neveli a fiait.  Scott beosztása engedi hogy otthon legyen a családdal legallább még egy évet.

Gyula éve nagyon tele volt.  Igazolt gyógyszerész lett, és most tanul a doktorátusára.  Azután megy tovább képzésre.  Nyár elején, eljegyezte Parker Colleen-t, és december 7. volt az esküvö.  A menyasszony 5 éves kislánya, Peyton is részt vett.  Colleen szakács iskolát végzett.  Gyuszi születésnapjára fözött nekünk, és irigyelhetjük Gyulát, mert jókat fog enni.

Zsolt utolsó éves az egyetemen, számitógép tudományt tanul.  Már kezdi az állandó munka keresést.  Tanulás mellett két állása van, hát nem idegen neki a munka.  Idén egy szobatárssal lakásban lakik.  Rá jött hogy nagyon szeret fözni.  Kitalál új recepteket amik olcsók de jó ízüek.

Tas befejezte középiskola második évét a Marmionnál.  Azután nézet eltérés miatt nem hivták vissza.  Lehet hogy jót tettek neki ezáltal.  Ott hagyta a középiskolát és egyenesen egyetemre ment.  Ugyanott tanul ahol két szülö tanit.  Most itthon lakik, ami új nekünk – mi élvezzük.  Talán Ö is.  Sokan akik elhagyják a katonai befolyást frizurájukon lazitanak.  Tas haja idén már kék, szöke, és majdnem fekete volt.

Erika és Gyuszi még mindig élvezi a tanitást.  Ebböl nem lesz egyhamar nyugdíjba menetel.  Szabadidöben kisebb-nagyobb utakat tettünk meg.  Kora tavasszal New York álamba mentünk, meglátogattuk a Sík Sándor Cserkészparkot, Letchworth Parkot, aztán  Krisztináékat új házukban.  Egy másik alkalommal felmentünk Michigan leg északabbik pontjára, Copper Harbor városkába.  Az ott lévö Hungarian Falls (vízesés) el van rejtve, mert állitólag nagyon veszéjes ösvény vezetett oda, igy levették az irányitó táblákat és hagyták benöni az utat.  Ez nem természet védelem, hanem per elleni védelem.  Mi annak ellenére valahogy odataláltunk.  Kb 30 évvel ezelött voltunk utoljára ott.  Élvezzük a lakókocsi autónkat (kicsit olyan mint a VW Eurovan), mert akárhol otthon vagyunk benne.  Utoljára, Cleveland város kellös közepén aludtunk amíg vártuk hogy a fiúk elhagyják a bált.  Senki sem tudhatta hogy benne vagyunk.  Mivel hogy szaporodik a nagy család, idén több idöt töltöttünk a genealogiával.  Az interneten szerepel a nadas.org honlapon több mint 14 ezer név.  Boldogan fogadunk hozzáadást és javítást.
